Following the release of the 2017 1 oz Palladium American Eagle, the US Mint now releases the first proof version of this coin in 2018.

The obverse features a portrait of Liberty with a winged Phrygian cap, similar to the Roman God Mercury. Adapted from Adolph Weinman's classic design used on the Mercury dime in 1916.
