This beautiful coin figure eight is the newest innovative design from the Perth Mint and the first of its kind in the world. Many cultures associate with numerology, but none more than Chinese, where certain numbers have a special meaning and believed to be fortunate. One of these is the number eight, pronounced like "ba" and means wealth, luck and prosperity. The number is also uniquely symmetric and resembles the mathematical symbol for infinity. It is considered a highly lucky number and is used in daily life as much as possible in many areas of China (addresses, wedding dates, phone numbers, gifts, etc.)

The figure design includes the two dragons across the figure eight shape. The dragons wrapped around one another and holding coins in their claws. The Perth Mint traditional “P” mintmark also appears in the artwork, created by Ian Rank. The dragon is also powerful and generous symbol in Chinese culture and can be found in legends, festivals, art, and idioms. The dragon is associated with wisdom in Chinese culture and is one of twelve Chinese zodiac signs.
