Reviving one of the most recognizable designs from China's historic provincial silver coinage, the 2018 1 oz Chinese Silver Kiangnan Dragon Dollar Restrike Coin combines classic numismatic artistry with modern .999 fine silver. Struck by the Shanghai Mint, this limited restrike contains 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver and recreates the celebrated Kiangnan Dragon Dollar design in a modern bullion format. It was also the first release in an eight-design series honoring notable vintage Chinese Dragon Dollars.
China's original Dragon Dollars emerged during a period of major monetary modernization in the late Qing Dynasty. Provincial mints produced silver dollars featuring elaborate imperial dragons alongside Chinese, Manchu, and sometimes English inscriptions.
