This amazing 2017 2 oz Tuvalu Norse Goddesses Frigg Antiqued High Relief Silver Coin is a part of the unique Norse Goddesses Series from the Perth Mint. This coin is the second release in this collection after the Freya silver coin. Like Freya, Frigg is depicted as surrounded by her symbols: falcons, ravens, hawks, mistletoe, and roses. As the Queen of Aesir, she was the only person permitted to sit on the high seat other than her husband Odin. Frigg is known as a goddess of love, marriage, destiny, the sky, and the weather.  She is also the creator of destiny and has the ability to see into the future. Strangely for a goddess of her high position, the surviving primary sources on Norse mythology give only sparse and causal accounts of anything related to her personality, deeds, or other attributes.

The coin design depicts Frigg holding a newborn baby in one hand while she holds a rose quartz pendant in the other. There are also attributes of Frigg power: a falcon, white candles, and the woven threads of destiny. The coin’s obverse depicts the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998.

Each Frigg Silver coin has a high-relief design and an antique finish. The high-relief striking gives an impressive visual appeal to the coin’s design, while the antique finish gives the appearance of ancient coinage.

This particular coin was sent to NGC within the first 30 days of issues to verify the coin’s content and quality and was graded as PF70, which means coin was struck in a special format with no post-production imperfections.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 2,000 coins, which makes them highly collectible among investors.
