The first Silver Libertad coin was introduced in 1982 as a 1 oz, struck from .999 silver. Later, in 1991, la Casa de Moneda de Mexico released the ½, ¼, 1/10, and 1/20 oz. fractional sizes, in 1996 the 2 and 5 oz., weights and the 1 kilo coin in 2002.
This splendid coin is world-famous for featuring the design of the renowned Centenario coin (1921 to 1947) - the Winged Victory and Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes on the reverse, and the Mexican National Seal on the obverse.
