History:
The American Gold Eagle was first released in 1986 by the United States Mint authorized under the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985. They are legal tender coins available in one-ounce, half-ounce, quarter-ounce and tenth-ounce sizes. The American Gold Eagle of each denomination is guaranteed for its weight, content, and purity by the U.S. Government. 2016 marks the 30th anniversary of the American Gold Eagle bullion coin program. All American Eagle gold bullion coins are 22 karat (or .9167 fine).
