2016 2 oz Cook Islands Silver Norse Gods Frigg Ultra High Relief NGC MS 69 Antiqued

This amazing 2016 2 oz Cook Islands Silver Norse Gods Frigg NGC MS69 Antiqued is a part of the Norse Gods Coins series, which includes nine coins featuring the well-known antique figures of the North Germanic mythology. These figures are human representations of certain phenomena that ancient civilizations couldn’t explain. Most people are familiar with the gods and goddesses of Roman and Greek mythology. Meanwhile, the mythology of Norse civilizations have long remained in the shadows by comparison even it has a lot of characters similar to that of Roman and Greek mythology. The popularity of Norse mythology has increased due to its multiple references in present-day films. In Norse mythology, Frigg is the goddess of marriage, motherhood, maternity, and fertility. She is also the creator of destiny and has the ability to see into the future. In her hands in the design, you’ll notice a spindle, her magical item that allows her to spin the threads of fate.

The coin’s obverse features the image of Queen Elizabeth II, created by sculptor Sir Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998. His artwork represented the fourth different version of Her Majesty to appear on commonwealth coinage since 1952.

The coin’s reverse depicts the Norse God Frigg sitting on the throne. Frigg is the wife of Odin, father of the gods, but is not the mother of his famous son Thor. Frigg is the only other god than Odin allowed to sit on the throne.
