The 2016 1/20 oz Australian Gold Monkey Coin features a new design by the talented artist, Ing Ing Jong. Her portrayal of a small monkey sitting on a peach tree branch is absolutely charming. The monkey rests on its hind legs while gazing over at an enticing peach hanging from a nearby branch. The Perth Mint “P” mintmark, the Chinese Character for Monkey, and “Year of the Monkey” are engraved on the revere side completing its design.
The obverse side features Ian Rank Broadley’s right facing profile of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, which has been used on Perth Mint’s Lunar Series II coins since 1998 for constancy. The obverse side boasts the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA”, “ 5 DOLLARS”, “2016”, and “1/20 OZ 9999 GOLD” near the rim of the coin.
