Easily one of the most recognizable coins in the world, the American Silver Eagle coin continues to be a coveted collector's and investor's item. This 2015 1 oz Silver American Eagle $1 Coin is composed of 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver and is minted exclusively in the United States at the Philadelphia Mint, the San Francisco Mint, and the West Point Mint.

The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States. It was first released by the United States Mint on November 24, 1986. It is struck only in the one-troy ounce size, which has a nominal face value of one dollar.

The catalyst of the American Silver Eagle bullion ultimately comes from the federal plan to sell silver holdings from the Defense National Stockpile in the 1970's and 1980's. In 1982, Senator McClure introduced a bill to provide for the disposal of silver from the national stockpile through the issuance of silver coins; this was amended in 1985 by Representative Larry E. Craig, and the American Silver Eagle was first minted in 1986.

The obverse side of the coin features the iconic Walking Liberty design with the sun ascending behind her. She is draped in the American flag, carrying an oak branch symbolizing strength and independence. The top of the rim is encircled with the word "LIBERTY;" "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed on the left. The year of the coin is etched below her feet.

The reverse side portrays the Heraldic Eagle based on the US Presidential Seal, with 13 stars above its head representing the original colonies. The noble eagle clutches arrows in one talon, and a laurel branch in the other. Its beak holds a banner displaying the nation's patriotic phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM" ("Out of One, Many"). Circling the rim are the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER" and "ONE DOLLAR."

Like all of our other silver coins, this one is guaranteed to be 100% authentic. These Silver coins are the perfect blend of collectible beauty and investment appeal. Add this coin to your cart today!
