Two exceptional finishes and perfect NGC grades distinguish the 2013-W 2 oz Enhanced/Reverse Proof Silver American Eagle 2-Coin Set NGC SP/PF 70. Originally released as the 2013 American Eagle West Point Two-Coin Set, this collection contains one 2013-W Enhanced Finish Silver American Eagle certified NGC SP 70 and one 2013-W Reverse Proof Silver American Eagle certified NGC PF 70. Each coin contains 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver for a combined 2 troy ounces, carries a $1 denomination, and was struck at the West Point Mint.
The United States Mint created this special two-coin set in 2013 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the West Point Mint facility. Offered for only four weeks, from May 9 through June 6, the collection gave Silver Eagle enthusiasts two specialty finishes unavailable in the regular bullion program. Most significantly, the Enhanced Finish coin represented the first Silver American Eagle of its kind.
The Enhanced Finish Silver Eagle uses three contrasting surface treatments - heavy frost, light frost, and brilliant polish—to emphasize different elements of Adolph A. Weinman's Walking Liberty and John Mercanti's heraldic eagle designs. Its companion Reverse Proof reverses the traditional Proof aesthetic, pairing frosted fields with highly polished design elements. Both bear the “W” mintmark, identifying their West Point origin.
