The 16th in the “Biblical Art” coin series, this coin pays tribute to the Prophet Elijah. One of the most famous biblical scenes is when Elijah ascends to heaven in a horse-drawn chariot of fire within a whirlwind of fire. It is said that Elijah did not die, rather he was taken to heaven to reappear as a sign of the Messiah to come.

The obverse displays the Israel State Emblem along with inscriptions in English, Hebrew, and Arabic.

The reverse features Yaacov Enyedi’s depiction of the Prophet Elijah ascending to heaven in a horse-drawn chariot of fire within a whirlwind of fire. Elisha, Elijah's successor, is pictured below, watching in amazement.
