2007 W 1/2 oz $10 First Spouse - Jefferson's Liberty Gold Uncirculated Coin (w/Box & COA)

In 2007, the United States Mint released the first four coins in a series of Gold First Spouse Coins. These coins are the government's first 1/2 oz .9999 fine Gold coins and are also the first commemorative 1/2 oz Gold coins. With a face value of $10, these Gold coins are minted and released annually in the order the First Ladies served in the White House. Each First Spouse Gold Coin will coincide with the release of the four annual Presidential $1 Coins. The United States Mint certifies that this coin is a genuine coin, struck in accordance with legislation passed by Congress and signed by the President on December 22, 2005 (Public Law 109-145).

As one of the first issues in the First Spouse series, the Jefferson’s Liberty gold coin is highly sought after for both its historical significance and its limited mintage. This uncirculated version carries a beautiful satin-like finish and offers collectors a meaningful blend of numismatic artistry, early American symbolism, and 24-karat gold content

• Obverse: Features an image that first appeared on the Draped Bust Half-Cent coin from 1800 to 1808. Above the portrait depicts the word, "LIBERTY" and to the right of the portrait depicts the presidency in which Thomas Jefferson was in term, "3rd Presidency 1801-1809" and the Mint Mark "W". Below the portrait is the inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST-2007"
• Reverse: depicts Thomas Jefferson's monument, at his Monticello estate. Inscribed on the coin are the words written on his monument, which Jefferson wrote himself: "Here was buried Thomas Jefferson, author of the declaration of American independence, of the statute of Virginia for religious freedom and father of the University of Virginia.  Born April 2, 1743, O.S. Died July 4, 1826." Circling the rim on the reverse side are the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM", "$10", and "1/2 OZ. .9999 Fine gold.
