This magnificent 2000 2 oz Gold Lunar Year of The Dragon is a member of the renown Lunar Series I from the Perth Mint. This coin is graded an almost-perfect MS 69 by PCGS. The Perth Mint first issued the Lunar Series I coins in 1999, and the series immediately gained lots of popularity. The Lunar Series program continues to be a much-loved series due to the high gold content of the coins and their intricate lovely designs. Each year a Chinese Zodiac animal is beautifully depicted on the coin, making them highly prized for collectors everywhere.
The obverse features the well-known image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen's bust faces to the right wearing a beautiful crown. Inscriptions include: “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA”, “200 DOLLARS”, and the initials of the designer, Ian Rank-Broadley.
The reverse displays the image of a fierce dragon reaching for a Flaming Pearl, which symbolizes the Sacred Pearl of Wisdom. Other engravings on the reverse include the Chinese character for Dragon, the year of mintage, along with the weight and purity of the coin
