This gorgeous 2000 2 oz Gold Lunar Year of The Dragon is a part of the Lunar Series I from the Perth Mint. This coin is graded a near-perfect MS 69 by NGC. The Perth Mint started issuing the Lunar Series I program in 1999 and the series instantly gained incredible popularity. The Lunar program continues to be very popular due to the high gold purity of the coins and their impressive designs. Each year a Chinese Zodiac animal is beautifully depicted on the coin, making them highly collectible.

The obverse features the beloved image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen faces to the right wearing a beautiful crown. Inscriptions include: “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA”, “200 DOLLARS”, and the initials of the designer, Ian Rank-Broadley.

The reverse displays the image of a dragon reaching for a Flaming Pearl, representing the Sacred Pearl of Wisdom. Other engravings on the reverse include the Chinese character for Dragon, the year of mintage, along with the weight and purity of the coin.
