The 1987 Panda gold coin, features a Panda gently sipping water out of a pond with bamboo trees surrounding it and considered to be one of the most unique Panda coins ever issued. Coins that were made at the Shenyang Mint in China have a "Y" mint mark, while coins that have an "S" mint mark indicate the coin was made at the Shanghai Mint.

Because this is the only year of the Panda coin series issued with mint marks, the 1987 Panda Gold coins have an extra collectible value to them that may create an added demand in the future.
