This 1985 Netherland Proof Gold Coin is a modern representation of the famous gold Dutch trade coinage of the 18th and 19th centuries also known as a Knight Ducat. This historical coin is made from 0.983 fine gold and has a weight of 0.1104 oz.
The obverse depicts a knight holding seven arrows bundled with a ribbon in his left hand (representing the seven provinces of the Netherlands), and a sword in his right. The knight divides the issue date of 1985. The inscription "PARVAE CRESCUNT CONCORDIA RES" is placed along the left and right parts of the rim, this is a Latin version for "Where there is harmony, small things will grow."
The reverse features a stylized border and frame that houses the Latin phrase, "MO. AUR. REG. BELGII AD LEGEM IMPERII", which could be translated to "Money of the Provinces of the United Netherlands according to the law of the empire."
The 1985 Ducat Proof Gold Coin has a low mintage of 103,863 pieces only which makes it a solid addition to any precious metals collection.
