1972 Bailiwick of Jersey Gold "Silver Wedding Anniversary" 4-coin Set
This set includes four 1972 Jersey gold proof coins in the denominations of 5 pounds, 10 pounds, 20 pounds, and 25 pounds.
This coin set celebrates the silver wedding anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
On the reverse of the:
Gold Twenty Five Pounds is the Royal Arms of 1593 that were taken from Elizabeth Castle in St. Aubin's Bay.
Gold Twenty Pounds is the Ormer (Haliotis Tuberculata). A gastropod mollusc as well as a great local delicacy.
Gold Ten Pounds is a gold torque (or torc). A relic of the bronze age discovered during excavations in 1889 at St Helier.
Gold Five Pounds is the lesser white-toothed shrew, found on the Channel Islands but not on the British mainland.
On the obverse is the portrait of Her Majesty the Queen, by Arnold Machin, as used on British decimal coins, with the inscriptions "QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND", "SILVER WEDDING 1972".
