1922 $20 Gold St. Gaudens Double Eagle Coin PCGS MS 61

This 1922 $20 Gold St. Gaudens Double Eagle Coin is graded by PCGS as Mint State 61.

These $20 Gold St. Gaudens, Double Eagles were minted between 1907-1933. Many consider the twenty-dollar gold piece designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens to be the most beautiful U.S. coin ever. The coin weighs .9675 troy ounce, is struck in 90% fine gold.

The coin is named after its designer, the sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, who designed the obverse and reverse. Saint-Gaudens died in 1907, after designing the eagle and double eagle, but before the designs were finalized for production. His double eagle is considered by many to be the most beautiful of U.S. coins.

The obverse of this coin features Lady Liberty's full figure, while the reverse has a majestic flying eagle.
