The 1887 $2.5 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle Gold Coin NGC MS 62 is a historic and valuable coin that was minted over a century ago. It is made of 90% gold and 10% copper and weighs 4.18 grams. The coin was minted by the United States Mint in Philadelphia and has no mint mark. The coin comes graded by NGC as Mint State 62.

The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed with the word "LIBERTY." Thirteen stars surround her head, representing the original thirteen colonies of the United States. The reverse of the coin features a bald eagle with outstretched wings, holding arrows, and an olive branch in its talons. The eagle is surrounded by the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," with the denomination "2 1/2 D." and the year "1887" below.

The Liberty Head Quarter Eagle Gold Coin was first minted in 1840 and was in circulation until 1907. During this time, the coin underwent several design changes, with the Liberty Head design being used from 1840 to 1907.
