The obverse features the left profile of Lady Liberty, with the phrase "LIBERTY" engraved on her tiara. Encircling this beautiful woman is 13 stars representing the original colonies from the New World and the year of mintage is shown on the bottom.

The reverse side shows the American eagle baring a patriotic shield on its chest, wings spread open for flight. An olive branch and a bundle of arrows are seen in its left and right talons, respectively. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and the denomination.
