The obverse features a bust of Lady Liberty facing right. Her hair is flowing behind her. Encircling Lady Liberty's head is 15 stars representing the 15 states in the US during that time. Inscriptions include "LIBERTY" and the year of mintage.

The reverse displays a bald eagle standing proudly with its wings outstretched. The eagle is encircled by branches and leaves. The inscription bordering the coin reads "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."
