This silver bar is no longer in production today and only about 5,000 were made, which means it might not be easy to find very often! Contrary to popular belief, the Hunt 100 oz Silver Bar was not produced by the two famous brothers Nelson Bunker Hunt and William Herbert Hunt, sons of the oil tycoon Haroldson Lafayette Hunt, Jr. This Hunt Silver Bar was actually manufactured by Jack Hunt Coin Broker in upstate New York. At the time of production, there was a silver bar shortage, so the Hunt Silver Bars were born! Once the silver market regained its base, it became more costly for Jack Hunt to produce these bars, so he ceased production. This Hunt Silver Bar is one of the originals that were made in 1981-1982 and is considered to be rare.
The obverse of the 100 oz silver bar features the Hunt logo along with the weight and purity. The reverse is intentionally left blank.
