Vietnamese Lang Silver bars are long, bowed, rectangular bars that resemble a “Hang,” or an animal feeding trough. These bars were made from the early 1800s through WW2. The weight of each bar usually ranges between 370 and 380 grams. 10-Lang bars were cast by bankers and presented to government officials who stamped them with “verification stamps.” These bars come with three panels that have two characters on each side. These characters include the reign title, a sexagenary date, and the province where they were stamped. Silver bars like the 10-Lang are notorious for having been used in the Opium trade.
