Trenton is the capital of New Jersey and the county seat of Mercer County. Trenton also briefly served as the capital of the USA. It became the capital of New Jersey on November 25, 1790. The place was known as Trent-Towne after William Trent, a primary landowner in that area. Later on, the name was shortened, and the city was renamed Trenton. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the town quickly developed as manufacturing became the main factor of its economy which led to the slogan “Trenton Makes, the World Takes.” Some popular tourist spots in Trenton are the New Jersey State Museum, Old Barracks Museum, William Trent House, Artifacts Gallery, Stacy Park, Pennsbury Manor, and many more.
