Brockton is the seventh-largest city in Massachusetts and is located in Plymouth County. The nickname for Brockton is the “City of Champions” as two successful boxers Rocky Marciano and Marvin Hagler hail from this place. Brockton was originally part of Bridgewater but it split from it in 1821, becoming North Bridgewater. The city got its name Brockton in 1874 and was incorporated later in 1881. Brockton was one of the largest producers of shoes during the Civil War. Even after the Civil War, the city continued having a strong shoe and leather industry for a long time.
