Breaking Down Bullion Sales Tax in Louisiana
In Louisiana, there is a tax exemption on sales of gold, silver, or numismatic coins, or platinum, gold, or silver bullion. In the past, this exemption was applicable only when the above-mentioned items had a total value of one thousand dollars or more. However, from August 1, 2013, the State of Louisiana has relaxed the sales tax on these items and has passed a bill that exempts sales tax on any sales of such bullion pieces. However, other numismatic collectibles, like medals, tokens, non-legal tender coins, and paper currency, are still subject to a 4% tax along with additional local or parish taxes that can amount as high as 11% in some areas.
When buying from Bullion Exchanges, the residents of Louisiana do not have to pay any sales taxes, as Bullion Exchanges is not based in Louisiana. Please take your time to browse through our tax-free gold and silver products.
