Named after Princess Augusta of Wales, Augusta was founded by General James Edward Oglethorpe in 1736 and had been the capital of Georgia twice in the erstwhile years. The city lies on the western bank of the river Savannah. This place was selected by General Oglethorpe to establish the settlement, being chosen mainly to help flourish trading with Native Americans and compete with the New Savannah Town.
Augusta has been a flourishing trading post since the beginning, with more and more traders from South Carolina moving into the region. Some of the popular things that Augusta is known for are the annual Masters Golf Tournaments. Augusta is also the home of the state’s only public health science graduate university, the Georgia Health Sciences University. Some of the famous tourist spots of the city are the Riverwalk Augusta, Augusta Canal, Phinizy Swamp Nature Park and Brookfield Park.
Georgia's bullion sales tax policy is investor-friendly hence Augusta has many great precious metal dealers which sell various bullion and numismatic items. Being an out of state retailer, Bullion Exchanges does not charge sales taxes on any purchases made by Georgia residents. However, it is always better to check with a tax professional before making any purchase, as we are no tax policy experts.
