Doge On The Moon
In 2013, the “Doge” internet meme featuring a surprised Shiba Inu rocketed into the public eye, and in December of that year, software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer created the cryptocurrency “Dogecoin”. Initially developed as a “joke” poking fun at wild cryptocurrency speculation, Dogecoin quickly developed its own online community, reaching a market value of over $85 billion[b] in May 2021.
Dogecoin.com currently promotes the "fun and friendly Internet currency" to a broad demographic while still referencing its comedic origins. Despite its satirical nature, some consider it a legitimate investment prospect. The cryptocurrency community often uses the term “To The Moon” accompanied by a rocket ship emoji to express either hope of a crypto’s price increase, or a celebratory phrase after the price shoots up.
The obverse of the coin showcases a Shiba Inu dog in a spacesuit, standing on the moon. A flag displays the word “WOW”, commonly used in the Doge meme, with a rocket ship docked in the background. A satellite floats among various planets and stars. The reverse features a rocket ship launching from the earth and heading to the moon with a Shiba Inu gazing from the window.
