2016 1 oz Gold American Buffalo $50 Coin BU
Introduction:
The Gold American Buffalo is the first 99.99% pure gold coin produced by the US Mint, and the 2016 1 oz Gold American Buffalo Coin celebrates 10 years since its introduction. This stunning American gold coin is worldwide renowned because it showcases one of the most popular historical designs, originally used in 1913 - the Buffalo Nickel by James Earl Fraser.
American Gold Buffalos were offered for the first time by the US Mint on June 22, 2006. It’s the first coin minted by the US Government, containing 24-karat .9999 pure gold. It quickly became popular among collectors due to the tremendous increase in its intrinsic value. With a denomination of $50, the coin was worth $800 in 2006, almost doubling its price by 2016. Because sometimes, many investors preferred foreign 24-karat gold coins, the American Gold Buffalo was released to compete with them and became a huge success. The coin is manufactured at the West Point facility of the US Mint, and since it’s a bullion coin, it doesn’t carry any mintmarks.
Besides its high intrinsic value, the Gold Buffalo is a widely popular addition to your gold collectibles due to its special design made by James Earl Fraser. He was the student of August Saint-Gaudens, the sculptor who designed the famous Gold Eagles. The obverse side of the coin represents a combination of facial features of the three Native American tribe chiefs while on the reverse side of the coin is depicted the image of the Black Diamond Bison from Central Park Zoo, New York City. Fraser, the remarkable American sculptor, showcased his craftsmanship by creating and using this design for the original Buffalo Nickels back in 1913. The 2016 1 oz Gold American Buffalo Coin is a special Gold Buffalo because it marks the 10th anniversary since its introduction, making it a highly sought-after gold bullion coin.
