Schedule for Future Product Releases
Ann Bailey, the Products Manager at United States Mint, presented the Product Release Schedule for future product releases. These are now available on the US Mint’s official website. This presentation occurred during the United States Mint Forum in Washington D.C. Bailey spoke as the Numismatic Program Manager.
Release Dates
The following is a compilation of the upcoming release dates: At noon on January 4th the 2018 American Silver Eagle 1 oz coin in Proof from West Point will be available for purchase. If you are a bulk purchaser, you have the opportunity to take part in the new bulk pack program. Through this option, you will receive five trays of 42 Eagles in a special box. They will have availability on the same day as its release. This bulk option was very successful last year. Additionally, the Mint has announced that this option could be made available for the Burnished Proof or San Francisco Silver Eagle in the future.

Seven days after this release, on January 11th, the following will be available: Birth sets Congratulations sets Happy Birthday Sets The Birth and Happy Birthday sets will include the Kennedy half-dollar, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, and Lincoln cent. All in Proof version. They will bear the S mint mark to denote the San Francisco mint. The Birth Set will also include the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore quarter from Michigan, part of the America the Beautiful series, whose release will kick off the year for the series. The Happy Birthday set, contrastingly, will include the Rhode Island release. This release will conclude the series for 2018-- the Block Island National Wildlife Refuge quarter from Rhode Island. A 2018-S Proof 1 oz Silver Eagle will come in the Congratulations Set.

The following Wednesday, on January 17, the first commemorative coin of 2018 will release the World War I Veterans Centennial Uncirculated Silver Dollar. This coin will be available in Proof and Uncirculated options. Five additional coin and medal sets will be available for purchase on the same day, each representing a branch of the US Military that served during World War I. These include the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marines, and the Air Service Corps. The US Treasury stipulated that these medals could only be created to increase the sale of their coin counterparts, meaning that to purchase the entire set you will have to buy at least five World War I Veterans Centennial commemoratives. However, because the medals were struck with the same planchets and showcase exquisite designs, they will add value to any collection.

January 23rd marks the release of the 2018 America the Beautiful Proof Set. This set will include the San Francisco minted Proofs of 2018’s America the Beautiful quarter series. The series is Michigan/Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore; Wisconsin/Apostle Islands National Lakeshore; Minnesota/Voyageurs National Park; Georgia/Cumberland Island National Seashore; and the fifth and final release of the year, Rhode Island/Block Island National Wildlife Refuge.

February will see the release of the American Platinum Eagle. Its theme of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness stems from the Declaration of Independence. This three-coin series will break the mold of the previous 20 years’ worth of releases for its changing obverse designs. It will share the same reverse eagle design. The 2018 version will showcase Lady Liberty on its obverse. Her arms are wrapped around a girl that is assumed to be her daughter.

On February 8th the one-tenth-ounce American Liberty gold Proof Coin will release. It will be the same design as the 2017 gold release of this coin. This fractional version is available by popular demand, due to the high price of gold affecting the sale of the 2017 release. Jim Thorpe, the renowned Olympic football player, was the first Native American to win a gold medal in the Olympics. The 2018 Native American $1 coin will celebrate his achievements. It is available in rolls and bags on February 15th. The Pictured Rocks quarter three-coin set available for purchase five days later.

February 22nd marks the release of the 2018 America the Beautiful 90% Silver Proof Set. March will kick off with the 2018 American Gold Eagle line. One ounce, half-ounce, quarter-ounce, and tenth-ounce Proof coins will sell beginning on the first. The American Gold Eagle four-coin set will additionally release on the first.

Struck at the San Francisco Mint, the 2018 US Mint Proof Set will release on the sixth of March. This set will include 2018’s five America the Beautiful Quarters in Proof. As well as the Kennedy half-dollar, the Roosevelt dime, the Jefferson nickel, and the Lincoln cent. All of which will be available in Proof versions. The second commemorative release of 2018 will come out on March 15th. This is the 2018 Breast Cancer Awareness commemorative. It will include $5 22-karat pink gold coin, silver $1 coins, and clad half-dollars. All available in Proof and Uncirculated. This makes a total of six coins in this set. Five days later, on March 20th, 200-coin bags of the 2018 Kennedy half-dollar and two-roll sets will be released. The 2018 America the Beautiful Uncirculated Set will be released on March 29th. Finally, capping off the spring releases announced thus far.
To Be Announced on the Product Release Schedule
A tentative schedule is available on the website for the rest of the 2018 releases from the US Mint. The 2018 American Buffalo one-ounce gold Proof coin will come out in spring. The Uncirculated 2018 Silver Eagle, Apostle Islands National Lakeshore rolls and bags, the three-coin set and five-ounce silver Uncirculated, and the 2018 US Mint Silver Proof and Uncirculated sets will also be available in spring. Summer will see the one-ounce Uncirculated Gold Eagle; a 2018 San Francisco minted Silver Eagle Proof coin; Cumberland Island quarter products; the 2018 50th Anniversary San Francisco Silver Reverse Proof Set; and the Voyageurs National Park releases. In the fall, we will see the 2018 American Palladium Eagle Proof Coin. As well as the ATB Circulating Coin Set, Block Island quarter releases, the 2018 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set, and the Breast Cancer Awareness Coin and Stamp Set.
