Perth Mint started its lunar series in 1996 with the series Ⅰ Lunar bullion series. Since the first one was such a hit, they launched a series Ⅱ production in 2008.
The original series concluded in 2010 which means that there were three years of overlap between both series.
Due to the mintage being so popular, the second one with the lion privy will only have a 30,000 coin mintage.

Coin Features
Made from .999 fine silver, the 2018 Australian Lunar Year of the Dog Coin, Lion Privy, will be an instant hit among investors and collectors alike. Due to the popularity from the first series, this coin will fly off the shelf.
The obverse of this coin shows a German shepherd lying peacefully next to its puppy. Firstly, next to the dogs, on their left, appears the peony flower.
Above the dogs appears the Chinese character for a dog. To the right of the dogs, the special lion privy can be seen just above the mintmark.
Finally, on the bottom of the reverse, the inscription “Year of the Dog” can be seen. On the obverse of the coin, the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth Ⅱ appears.
Around her, the inscriptions “ELIZABETH Ⅱ” and “AUSTRALIA” appear on the top. Finally, on the bottom are inscriptions of “1oz 9999 Ag”, “2018”, and “1 DOLLAR” appear on the bottom.
