Anniversary Silver Medal - American Liberty US Mint

In 2017, the US Mint celebrates 225 years of exceptional coinage history. They will release the stunning 225th Anniversary Silver Medal on June 14, at noon (ET).  The Philadelphia facility will produce this superb silver piece. Additionally, it will showcase the famous modern rendition of Liberty as an African-American woman. Furthermore, a special booklet comes with the medal detailing the evolution of this iconic symbol.

2017 American Liberty 225th Anniversary Silver Medal

To mark its notable 225th anniversary, the US Mint will introduce the beautiful special edition 2017 American Liberty 225th Anniversary Silver Medal.  This outstanding silver piece is the medal counterpart of the one-of-a-kind 2017-W 1 oz. $100 American Liberty High Relief Proof Gold Coin. And this coin features the same unique rendition of Lady Liberty for the first time as an Afro-American woman. Also, this beautiful medal will be in a proof finish. It will have a weight of 1 troy ounce and a 99.9% silver purity.

Since the founding of the US Mint 225 years ago, the most beloved coins and medals of the Nation carry distinct emblematic figures. Hence these figures represent iconic American symbols. This includes the graceful Lady Liberty. However, this great medal bears a modern Lady Liberty representation. Yet, it is the same as its gold coin equivalent which is a symbol of freedom and equality. Additionally, it holds the same values in the Declaration of Independence.

Additional Coin Details

The charming profile of Lady Liberty wearing a crown of stars showcases on the obverse of the coin. Also, the engravings “2017”, “1792”, and “Liberty” encircle her.  A mighty, fearless flying American eagle is on the reverse. Its eyes are looking towards an opportunity certainly worthy of attainment. You will additionally read “P” mintmark and the words “United States of America."  Every silver medal by the mint will sell in a hand-packaged and elegant black matte presentation box. Buyers will also get a special booklet, which contains a detailed description of the evolution of this iconic symbol of the Nation, will accompany it.  

Series

This wonderful bullion is the first of the five 2017 American Liberty silver medals which the US Mint plans to issue this year. And this is a true celebration of its 225th anniversary.  The medals will come in two product options: this individual piece and the commemorative set. Furthermore, each will contain four medals with the same design. However, they will have a different mintmark and finish. These include the 2017-P Reverse Proof; 2017-W Enhanced Uncirculated; 2017-S Proof; and 2017-D Uncirculated.  The American Liberty 225th Anniversary Silver Four-Medal Set will release on October 19th, 2017.
