Gold Price decreased to $1,249.60 (-0.54%) per ounce, Silver Price $16.66 (-0.35%), Platinum Price $925.60 (-0.60%), Palladium Price $870.85 (-1.04%), Dow Jones index 21,462.91 (0.37% increase). Here is a new week ahead. Investors might get a break from the staggering news cycle that has dominated in June. There's only smattering economic data on the calendar. Yet with the one big piece of market news likely to come from banks.

U.S. Dollar vs Precious metals

The US dollar is steady against a basket of currencies on Monday. This was after slipping on soft US economic data. Investors await comments by a top Federal Reserve official for clues on whether recent strength can sustain. The US index climbed to a two-week high late the previous week. Which is after the Fed raised interest rates and kept the door open for another hike in 2017. But its rally weighs a little by Friday's weaker-than-expected housing and consumer sentiment data. Gold prices are down and hit a four-week low in early U.S. trading Monday. Among the other precious metals: spot silver price was headed for its biggest weekly decline in six weeks, platinum price decreased and palladium also lost points on Monday.

Stock Market Today

U.S. stocks on Monday opened higher at S&P 500 2445.46 (+0.51%) and NASDAQ Index 6214.48 (+0.99%), Dow Jones Industrial Average 21462.91(+0.37%). The main US stock indexes rose on Monday morning, suggesting a positive start to the week, split market over the last several sessions. Although the Fed raised rates last week, weaker economic data has cast doubts on an aggressive monetary policy.  Economic data for today: Fed speakers (Monday-Tuesday), Existing Home Sales (Wednesday), Jobless Claims (Thursday), New Home Sales (Friday).
