Anubis 2 oz Ultra High Relief Silver Round .999 Fine
Bullion Exchanges is excited to offer the Anubis 2 oz Ultra High Relief Silver Round. Each round is composed of two troy ounces of .999 fine silver.
Anubis is associated with the mummification and afterlife in Ancient Egyptian religion; he is depicted as a man with a canine head, or simply just a canine. He is often illustrated with black skin due to his connection with the deceased, since this color symbolizes both rebirth and the decay of a corpse. As with many deities of Egypt, he has assumed various roles throughout history, including the protector of graves and an embalmer of human remains.
One of his most significant roles is the Guide of Souls to the Underworld, where he attends to the weighing scale. This ceremony is known as the “Weighing of the Heart” and was done by using the physical heart and a feather: if the feather weighed more than the heart, the deceased could move onto the afterlife. If the heart weighed more than the feather, it was devoured and the soul was sent to a lake of fire.
The Ultra High relief on this incredible 2 oz silver round is subtle yet gives Anubis a life-like appearance, showcasing how powerful he appears in his most prominent role in Ancient Egyptian myth. The artist, Heidi Wastweet, led the charge for this amazing technique of impressed and raised coin components, which can clearly be seen in Anubis’s scale and also in the Cleopatra 2 oz Ultra High Relief Silver Round.
Coin Features:
- Contains 2 troy ounces of 99.9% pure silver.
- Individual coins are packaged in protective plastic flips.
- Obverse – Features Anubis alongside his scale conducting the “Weighing of the Heart” Ceremony. On an Egyptian stand is a mummified falcon, a jar containing embalming fluid, and a skull which shows the connection this Egyptian God has to the afterlife.
- Reverse – Shows a pyramid similar to those built in the Giza complex which is located in Cairo, Egypt. The background features hieroglyphics that spelled out “Anubis” creating a vibrant field that many find appealing. In front a jackal sits atop a winged sun disc that is guarded by two serpents known as the “uraeus”, which translates to the “king’s protection.” Below are the inscriptions – “2 OZ,” “999,” and “AG” surrounded by hieroglyphics that appear to be Egyptian lotus flowers.
