A contest was held to find the best design to feature on the Peace Silver Dollar. Anthony de Francisci won, and his work appears on the coin to this day. The Peace Dollar represents the United States of America emerging as an international power after World War I, while also honoring those that served and ultimately led the country to victory and peace.

The reverse depicts a peaceful bald eagle on a rock, holding an olive branch.
