Mint Chief engraver George T. Morgan designed the Morgan Silver Dollar in 1878. Representing westward expansion and advanced industrialization, the Morgan Dollars were produced until 1904, and then again in 1921, until they were replaced later that year with the Peace Dollar. In 2021 they began being minted again in order to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the original transition from Morgan to Peace dollars. The new Morgan Silver Dollar is created using a combination of modern and classic US mint technology.
The obverse features Lady Liberty, facing left, wearing a cap and a crown surrounded by 13 stars and inscriptions.
The reverse displays an American Eagle with wings outstretched, holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons within a wreath.
