The Noah’s Ark coin was introduced in 2011, however, the 5 oz edition wasn’t released until 2012. The biblical tale of Noah’s Ark is about how Noah built an ark to save two of every animal (one female, one male) from a disastrous flood. Famously, Noah knew the rain was coming to an end after a dove brought back an olive branch. When the storm ended, the ark landed on Mount Ararat, which was located in Armenia.
The obverse features the Armenian coat of arms, the weight, purity, denomination, year, LEV logo, and “REPUBLIC of ARMENIA” in both English and Armenian.
The reverse showcases a peaceful image of a dove holding an olive branch in its beak, soaring towards Noah’s ark which is heading towards Mount Ararat.
