2022 marks the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the ancient Pharoah Tutankhamun’s tomb. Tutankhamun, also known as “King Tut”, ruled ancient Egypt between 1333 BCE and his untimely death in 1323 BCE, at the age of 19. In 1922 archeologist Howard Carter discovered the historic tomb along with well-preserved treasures that had been undisturbed for over 3,000 years. He was mummified and laid to rest with a magnificently-crafted death mask on his shoulders, Carter’s extraordinary discovery led to a worldwide interest in Egyptian history and artifacts.

The obverse displays the Jody Clark effigy of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by inscriptions.

The reverse features the profile of Tutankhamun’s death mask with radial lines emanating left.
