Zeus is the renowned sky and thunder god in ancient Greek religion. The design of this coin is based on the Statue of Zeus, made by Greek sculptor Phidias around 435 BC. The statue was erected in the Temple of Zeus in Olympia, Greece but was destroyed and lost during the 5th century AD. In the original statue and on this powerful coin, Zeus sits on an ornate throne, looking outwards. Thanks to the enhanced smartminting® technique used on this coin, you can admire the ultra-high relief depiction of Zeus!
