The title "Pharaoh" has been used for rulers of Ancient Egypt since the rule of Merneptah in the 19th Dynasty, c. 1200 BCE. The continued fascination with Pharaohs and Egyptian history has been evident in countless archeological digs, visiting tourists, and best-selling books. CIT is proud to release a collection of coins that capture all of the grandeur and splendor of the Pharaohs and the architectural wonders that were built to honor them. The obverse of this coin shows the great Pyramids of Giza in stunning relief and detail the viewer can even count the different layers of brick on each Pyramid! Look closely and you can also see the Sphinx rising off the surface. All this surrounds the domed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, bordered by the year, denomination, and country of issue. 

The reverse of this ultra-high relief coin displays three different Pharaohs. The three Pharaohs featured are Akhenaten, Thutmosis III, and Sobekneferu, the first female Pharaoh. Behind the Pharaohs are hieroglyphics from the ancient artifact “The Stele of Revealing” which currently resides in Cairo’s Boulak Museum.
