Our Bullion Exchanges Mythical Creatures coin displays a striking image of a mermaid and unicorn meeting in a mystic cove. Mermaids were originally thought to be beautiful yet dangerous magical creatures who lured sailors and civilians to watery graves. After the Enlightenment, the general public stopped believing in mermaids and unicorns. Instead, these creatures became associated only with fairytales, not cautionary stories for travelers. The obverse carries the Republique du Tchad seal with an intricate, high-relief background. This background borders the seal, displaying mythical creatures such as dragons, centaurs, Cerberus, and a cockatrice.
The reverse features the unicorn and a mermaid. The two beings reach towards each other, the unicorn by its horn and the mermaid by her hand. The mermaid lounges beside a pool of water in a cove, the unicorn bows its head to meet her hand. Butterflies and natural foliage of the magical wilderness appear in the background.
The serial number can be found on the edge of the coin.
