History enthusiasts will love owning this coveted coin! After King George V died on January 20th, 1936, arrangements were made to prepare a new obverse showcasing King Edward VIII for the 1937 coin. However, after he abdicated the throne, there were concerns that there might be a potential coin shortage. The coins minted during this period of crisis in early 1937, were marked by a raised dot on the reverse. There are only three original 1936 DOT 10 Cent coins known, outside of museum collections. Engravers studied the original coin to create a replica of the design by W. H. J. Blakemore. This is the first time that the RCM includes the original date on the coin’s reverse, instead of the year of issue. Owning this 2021Canada 1 oz Proof Gold Rarest Coins - 1936 DOT 10C Coin is as close as you can get to the original!
