2021 1 oz Silver Lunar Year of The Ox BU Australian Perth Mint In Cap

This 2021 1 oz Silver Lunar Year of The Ox Coin is the second release in the Lunar Series III from the Perth Mint, following the 2020 1 oz Silver Lunar Year of The Mouse Coin. The initial Lunar I series, released by the Perth Mint in 1999, gained widespread acclaim within a short period of time. The Perth Mint rode the popularity wave of the Lunar Series I by issuing the Lunar II series in 2008, with the "Year of the Mouse". This means the two series overlapped between 2008 and 2010. The Lunar Series III, initiated last year with the release of the Mouse coin, is continuing this year with The Year of The Ox. This Lunar Ox coin weighs 1 troy oz and contains .9999 fine silver. A maximum of 300,000 1 oz Ox coins will be produced, so snag the second release in the Lunar series III today!

Every year the Australian Perth Mint issues a brand new Lunar coin showcasing the Chinese Zodiac animal for that year. The high metal purity and detailed Zodiac designs make the Silver Lunar Program very popular among coin collectors, solidifying it as a celebrated series.

The 2021 Chinese Zodiac animal is the Ox. People who were born during this animal’s year tend to be diligent, honest, and patient. These traits usually make someone a great business-person, teacher, or designer. Although known to exhibit stubbornness and tardiness on occasion, those born in the Year of the Ox are still appreciated by their friends and family for their reliability and tenderness.

The obverse of this Zodiac coin displays the Jody Clark depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions surrounding the obverse include the weight, purity, and denomination of the coin.

The reverse of the coin features an adult ox standing beside its calf while underneath the shade of a cherry blossom tree. A village can be seen in the distant background. The Perth Mint “P” mintmark appears near the ox’s rear leg.
