This bimetallic coin came into being from a special process known as Bi-Metal Max. This process required completely covering an 11.5 oz copper center with 2 oz layers of .999 fine silver. These ultra-high relief coins were then given an antique finish.

The tiger is one of the symbolic animals in the Chinese culture, and it’s considered to be the King of Beasts. The White Tiger, however, is a remarkable guardian symbol known as the White Tiger of the West. The Four Mythological Guardians include the Azure Dragon of the East, White Tiger of the West, Vermillion Bird of the South, and Black Turtle of the North. How each of these guardians was chosen is based on ancient interpretations of Chinese constellations. Furthermore, these Guardians’ colors were identified based on the soil found in China in each cardinal direction. Because the far western deserts of China are salty and sandy, the color associated with the tiger is white. Finally, the season associated with the White Tiger is Autumn, and its assigned element is metal. 

The obverse of the White Tiger bimetallic coin bears the Republic of Chad’s Coat of Arms. This legal tender is centered in an octagonal yin-and-yang. The background displays the ancient Chinese constellation map. 

The reverse of the collectible coin features the fearsome White Tiger of the West. The tiger prowls forward in the coin, baring its teeth and showing its long claws to scare away evil spirits and evil-doers. Its name is written on the left side of the coin in gold Chinese kanji.
