The Mexican Silver Libertads are produced by La Casa de Moneda de Mexico, also known as the Mexican Mint. Initially established in 1535, this mint is impressively the oldest mint in all of North America. However, the Mexican Libertad Silver Coin series was introduced many years later in 1982. As the interest surrounding these coins grew, the Mexican Mint diversified the Libertad’s sizes. Starting in 1991, they began releasing 1/20 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/2 oz options. Then, five years later, the 2 oz and 5 oz Mexican Libertads were created to further expand the coin program to appease the high demand from collectors. Diversify your silver collection with a Mexican Silver Libertad coin today.
