Kookaburra Label Green) to our catalog.  This unique anniversary coin not only features a new design that celebrates 30 years of the series running, but also marks the return of Stuart Devlin’s original 1990 design as well.

This is special, because the Australian silver kookaburra series is known for updating its design every year. However, as the 30th anniversary coin, the 2020 silver kookaburra is doing something new. While the coin’s reverse features an original design, the coin’s obverse calls back to the series’ very first design.

So, like the 1990 kookaburra silver coin, this coin’s obverse features the adorable kookaburra sitting on a tree stump against a backdrop of native foliage. The Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is engraved alongside the design, as well as the denomination, the Queen’s name, and “AUSTRALIA”.

Meanwhile, the coin’s reverse displays a completely original design made to commemorate the series’ 30th anniversary. In this stunning relief, a laughing kookaburra bellows its famous call across an optimistic sunrise, while perched on a tin roof. It is flanked by engravings of the coin’s weight and purity, as well as the phrases “AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA” and “30TH ANNIVERSARY”.

This 2020 silver kookaburra coin is minted from 1 oz of .999 fine silver, and is graded by PCGS as MS 70. MS 70 is the highest grade offered by PCGS. This coin is also a first strike coin, meaning that it was minted within the first 30 days of issue.
