Much like its predecessor, the Great White Shark coin, this coin differs from most minted coins in its unusual appearance. While the coin’s surface remains flat like other commonly produced coins, the outline shows off the unique shape of a Hammerhead Shark. This makes the Hammerhead Shark Silver Coin stand out. Each coin comes inside a custom-made capsule and contains a unique serial number. Part of a three-coin series celebrating fierce underwater hunters, this Hammerhead Shark coin follows the Great White Shark coin and will be succeeded by the Tiger Shark coin.

The Great Hammerhead Shark, the largest of the nine Hammerhead Shark species, is a fearsome carnivorous predator. Its list of prey includes large fish, squid, and octopus, but favors the Stingray as its meal of choice. Its uniquely-shaped head increases its sensitivity which allows it to hunt more effectively. These sharks can live up to 30 years old and grow up 20 feet in length. Sadly, these majestic sea creatures are endangered due to the shark fishing industry.

The obverse of the coin features a bust of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by inscriptions. The name of the shark, as well as the weight, purity, and serial number are also displayed.
