The obverse features Lady Liberty holding a flaming torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. In the background, we can see the sun rising and the Capitol building to the side. Inscriptions include the word "LIBERTY" and the year of mintage.

The reverse depicts a male American Eagle in flight carrying an olive branch flying above a nest containing a female eagle and their hatchlings. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" along with the denomination and weight.
