The 2018 1 oz South Korea Silver Chiwoo Cheonwang PCGS MS 69 First Strike is a celebration of one of the most famous and legendary figures from Korean history: Chiwoo Cheonwang. Known as the God of War, Chiwoo Cheonwang led the Nine Li tribe in ancient China and is best known for his defeat of the Yellow Emperor and is honored as one of the founding fathers of both China and Korea. Listed as the 14th of 18 heads of the State of Shinshi, his descendants are thought to have later populated Korea. Today, he leads the way in South Korea’s national soccer team, the Red Devils, as their mascot.

This highly detailed new release depicts Go ggae bi on its obverse, an image from a roof tile of the Silla Dynasty, who is known to be the protector of people from the evil spirits of the world. The reverse shows an incredibly detailed and realistic image of Chiwoo himself, designed to show the last image that his enemies would see before defeat, of him astride his massive warhorse on a battlefield, wielding his mighty sword.
