The beautifully designed and highly admired Norse Goddesses Series from the Perth Mint presents 2017 2 oz Tuvalu Norse Goddesses Frigg Silver Coin. This is the second release in this stunning series struck from .9999 fine silver and continues the use of high-relief blanks with an antique finish that adds exceptional beauty and depth to these silver coins.
The mythology of Norse civilizations have long remained in the shadows by comparison even it has a lot of characters similar to that of Roman and Greek mythology. According to ancient Norse mythology, Frigg was the goddess of love, marriage, destiny, the sky, and weather. She is often depicted with a spindle and thread, as it is said she holds the power to spin the threads of fate to determine the destiny of men and gods alike.
The reverse design features Frigg cradling a newborn baby in one hand while she holds a rose quartz pendant in the other. Also included in the design are images of a falcon, white candles, and the woven threads of destiny. The coin’s obverse depicts the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This particular image is the fourth-generation depiction created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley.
The coin is struck in high relief format and has been individually antiqued to give it a unique finish conveying the surface of an ancient artifact. The coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu and comes inside of a prestigious wooden box, which includes engraved detailing on the lid. The coin is set in black velvet casing on the inside and accompanied by the Certificate of Authenticity.
